Making the Bible Figures

Before making the Action Figures:

Maximize Learning by following the suggestions on the 
Recommendations page for making the Action Figures!
 

Yardage

Metric Amounts

Flesh or tan colored fabric 1/8 yard or a fabric scrap 12 cm
Fabric scraps in 2 coordinating colors 1/4 yard of one

1/8 yard of the other

Brown transfer pen for faces
(Sulky brand or another brand with permanent ink)  
Scraps of felt or ultra suede in hair colors    
Bean bag fill  8 oz. bag  
Heat N Bond Light
or another brand of transfer web that can be sewn through
1/4 yard 24 cm
string 10 inch piece 25 cm
Fiber Fill small bag  
Hand sewing needles    
Machine needles for woven fabrics size 80/11    
matching or coordinating thread    

 

Make the Pattern Pieces

Draw the following pattern pieces onto a piece of paper:

 

Basic Bible Man/Woman

Clothes front

Back headpiece

 

Front headpiece

Woman's hair

 

Man's hair/beard

 

Beanbag for base of Bible person

Cut a 6 1/2", (16.5 cm), circle or make a pie shape pattern as illustrated above.

Interfacing for the Bean bag

Make a pattern for a 2" circle, (5 cm).

 

  • Draw a Pattern for the faces

    If you don't want to draw your own faces on the figures:
    Make a pattern the same size as your basic man pattern,
    Follow the measurements illustrated below to find the placement for the face.
    Copy the faces provided.

    Cutting out the Basic Person

    This is the person front.

    This is the "clothes' back" and the person back.

    Make a person front:

    Using the basic Bible man or woman pattern:

    Cut 1: 
    From flesh or tan colored fabric.
    Make a person back:

    Using the basic Bible man or woman pattern: 

    Cut 1:
    From one of the coordinating  fabrics. 

     

  • Make Appliqué Pieces:

    Trace onto the smooth side of Heat N Bond Light:
    front and back headpieces,
    clothes' front,
    hair for woman or hair/beard for man.
    Roughly cut out these shapes.  Do not cut directly on the traced lines.

    Proceed to Cutting the Fabrics
