| Telling the Story: |
-
Just like you had some trouble spots
going through the obstacle course, we all have troubles we face everyday.
-
What kinds of troubles do we face
everyday?
-
Getting along with brothers and sisters,
and friends, etc.
-
Today we're learning that Jesus
wants us to tell Him all our troubles.
-
Today we're going to hear a story about
a woman who tried to hide her troubles from Jesus.
-
Lay out the Promised Land mat.
-
Jesus had just crossed the sea in a
boat.
-
Place Jesus figure next to the Sea of
Galilee
-
Jesus was on his way to help someone.
-
A crowd of people was walking along
with Him.
-
Gather a crowd around Jesus as if they were
following behind him.
-
But there was a woman who had been sick
for 12 years.
-
Place the woman figure behind the crowd.
-
She had been to many doctors, but not
one could help her get better.
-
She knew that Jesus could make her
better.
-
So she said to herself, "If
I can just touch His coat, I know I will get all better".
-
So she squeezed through the crowd until
she got close enough to reach out and touch Jesus' coat.
-
Squeeze the woman figure through the crowd
to stand behind Jesus.
-
Then very quietly so no one would see
she reached out and touched Jesus' coat.
-
Immediately she got all better.
-
But do you know what else happened?
-
Jesus suddenly stopped walking.
-
He turned around and started looking at
the people following him.
-
Turn Jesus figure around to face the crowd.
-
He knew someone had touched him because
he had felt power go out of him.
-
So he asked, "Who touched
me?"
-
Well his disciples thought that was a
silly question and said to Jesus, "There is a whole crowd of
people pressing against you. Anyone could have touched you."
-
But Jesus knew that it wasn't the crowd
pushing against him who had touched him.
-
The woman knew that she couldn't hide
anymore.
-
She had to tell Jesus that she was the
one who had touched him.
-
But she was scared. In fact she
was so scared that she was trembling.
-
So she crouched at Jesus' feet and told
Him how sick she had been.
-
And Jesus told her that because she
believed in Him, she was all better.
-
| She wouldn't suffer any more.
Closing Discussion
-
How do you think the woman felt
after she told Jesus her trouble?
-
Relieved, not scared anymore.
-
How do you feel when you tell
someone your troubles?
-
I'm not sad anymore, like he's my
friend, etc.
-
Jesus wants us to tell Him all
our troubles.
-
Hiding around the room are some
troubled hearts.
-
Show the children one of the hearts.
-
The black marks on the hearts are our
troubles.
-
Each heart is a reminder of some kind
of trouble you have.
-
Jesus doesn't want us to hide our
troubles from Him.
-
| I want each of you to go and find the
troubled hearts and then bring them back to the circle.
After the kids have returned
with the hearts:
Close in Prayer
-
The kids are to think of a trouble they
have.
-
Show them the box with the slit in the
lid.
-
Quietly close in prayer giving each
child time to silently tell Jesus his trouble.
-
After each has told Jesus his trouble,
have him put his troubled heart in the box.
-
| Close thanking Jesus that He wants to
be our best friend who we can tell all our troubles to.
