Telling the Story: Familiarize
yourself with the story in Genesis 18:1-16 and 21:5-7
|
-
Add the tent and the tree.
-
Add the Abraham and Sarah figures,
(remind the children of their names as you add them),
-
Put Abraham outside the tent,
-
Put Sarah just inside the tent,
-
One very hot day Abraham was sitting
outside his tent when he saw 3 men standing nearby:
-
Put the 3 Fisher Price figures (or play
dough figures) under the tree,
-
Abraham ran to meet the men.
-
Run Abraham figure to the 3 men figures
-
He offered to get them some food to eat
and water to wash their feet.
-
And he told them
to rest under the tree.
-
Point to the tree
-
Abraham hurried to the tent.
-
Hurry Abraham figure to the tent
-
He asked Sarah to prepare
bread for them.
-
Then he asked a servant to prepare meat
for the men.
-
Then Abraham took the food to the men.
-
Walk Abraham figure to the men.
-
He brought them curds and milk and bread
and meat.
-
Does any one know what curds and milk
is?
-
cottage cheese
-
Then he waited with them under the tree
while they ate.
-
The men were really angels from the
Lord,
-
When they finished eating, the angel
from the Lord asked where Sarah was.
-
Abraham answered, "In the
tent".
-
Then the Lord told Abraham that Sarah
would have a baby.
-
Sarah heard this but she didn't believe
it.
-
Walk Sarah figure to the doorway of the
tent.
-
She laughed, and said to herself,
"I'm too old to have a baby".
-
But the Lord heard Sarah and said to
Abraham,
-
"Why did Sarah laugh?
-
There is nothing too hard for the
Lord.
-
In one year Sarah will have a baby
boy."
-
Then the 3 angels left.
-
Remove the 3 figures.
-
Bring Sarah out of the tent and put her
next to Abraham,
-
God kept his promise.
-
Sarah had a baby boy just when God had
said she would.
-
Add the play dough baby figure wrapped in
cloth and place it at Sarah's feet,
-
Abraham was 100 years old when the baby
was born
-
| Do you remember from our game
what Abraham and Sarah named their baby boy? | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
| Optional Snack: Let
the children have curds like Abraham's visitors had: |
-
| Option 2: Let them help make a dip with
cottage cheese by adding, onion salt and paprika to it and spreading it on celery sticks
or eating as a vegetable dip.
